BACP Registered
To become registered with the BACP to offer private counselling, you must first be a registered member and have completed a core practitioner training course in counselling or psychotherapy. This training should include at least one year's full-time or two years' part-time tuition and 100 hours of supervised placement.
As a BACP registered counsellor , I work in accordance with their ethical framework. For more information about the ethical framework you can visit:

If you have any further questions about my membership or policies, please don't hesitate to ask.
Counselling contract
In our first session, I will go through a 'counselling contract' with you. This is a legal document that explains how the counselling works and what we can expect from one other. Once we have discussed this, I will ask you to sign it. This also covers areas such as confidentiality, cancellation and payment policies and is vital to ensure the working boundaries are clear and understood from the beginning.
I will also discuss the location of the counselling and anything that may affect the sessions.
Privacy policy
Please take the time to read this privacy policy policy. It explains in detail what information I will keep about you, for what purpose and for how long. Please see the link below for further details: Please scroll through to familiarise yourself with this policy. I am happy to discuss any queries you may have.
Discriminatory practice promise
It is also important to state that I do not support discriminatory practice and that my indoor venue has full wheelchair access. I can also locate appropriate outdoor locations for those with limited mobility. If you feel your own needs may need further discussion in relation to holding a session, we can discuss this and find a way to ensure your needs are met.
Complaints procedure
Whilst I hope this is not the case, should you have an issue with me or my professional conduct you can contact the BACP by visiting their website and searching for and completing a ‘complaints form.’ They will investigate and contact me.

Record keeping/ confidentiality
As a member of BACP I am required to keep accurate and appropriate notes of our work together. I record my session notes securely on a laptop that is only used by me, and this is password protected at both the level of the individual document and the laptop itself. Any paper documents are locked in a robust non-portable cabinet to which only I have access. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (00010033035) and any information that I keep is subject to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18) and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation UK-GDPR see Information Commissioner’s Office: https://ico.org.uk and BACP’s Privacy notice. https://www.bacp.co.uk/privacy-notice
